Is Remarrying After Divorce a Sin? : Pastor, I'm confused. Is it a sin for a woman to remarry after divorce? What does the Bible say? : Many believers think it is a sin. But the answer the Bible gives is not what you think. Today, we'll use 3 truths to break this religious chain. 1. The Bible allows divorce in some situations. Matthew 5:32 tells us that if the other person is unfaithful, divorce is allowed. 1 Corinthians 7:15 also says: "But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart." This also applies to situations like being abandoned, abused, or suffering from long-term emotional coldness. 2. The "promise" of marriage is not a "contract" to suffer. God created marriage to help each other, not to let you be hurt in the name of a "promise." If a relationship is slowly destroying you, that is not God's original purpose for marriage. You can choose to end it, and you also have the right to remarry. 3. God wants the peace of your soul. He hates divorce, but He does not want to see you slowly wither in a harmful relationship. What He wants is not a cold marriage paper, but a home with respect and His presence. Remarriage is not a sin, but you should choose carefully and follow God's leading and guidance.
