@crimenightly: 📍 Bali, Indonesia BALI SUITCASE MURDER CASE TAKES ANOTHER TURN More than a decade after the infamous Bali suitcase murder, the case is taking another unexpected turn as Tommy Schaefer asks a U.S. judge to release him from jail while he awaits trial. Schaefer was convicted in Indonesia for helping his girlfriend, Heather Mack, kill her mother, Sheila von Wiese Mack, during a 2014 vacation in Bali. The shocking case gained international attention after Sheila's body was discovered inside a suitcase at a luxury resort. Schaefer spent more than 11 years in an Indonesian prison before returning to the United States earlier this year. Now, federal prosecutors in the U.S. accuse Schaefer of conspiring with Mack to murder her mother and help cover up the crime. His attorney, however, argues that Schaefer does not pose a danger to the public and is not a flight risk. His legal team is asking the court to allow him to remain out of custody while the federal case moves forward. A judge is scheduled to consider his release request on August 27. Meanwhile, Heather Mack is serving a 26 year federal sentence for her role in the murder. After more than a decade, the Bali suitcase murder case continues to generate new legal developments in the United States. Do you think Tommy Schaefer should be released while he awaits trial? #Bali #Indonesia #TrueCrime #CrimeNews
