@diongenerators: 3 PROPANE TANKS. 300 GALLONS. 5–7 DAYS OF POWER. This customer’s standby generator runs on propane, supplied by three 300-gallon tanks. Depending on the generator size, electrical load, weather, and operating conditions, that fuel capacity can typically provide approximately five to seven days of runtime during an extended outage. Actual runtime will vary. But fuel capacity is only part of the plan. If your generator operates for more than 24 hours, follow the manufacturer’s instructions. A safe shutdown and oil check should be performed only when appropriate: by the owner if permitted by the manufacturer, or by a qualified technician. Never bypass safety systems or open fuel connections. Running too long without checking the oil can allow the unit to run low and cause avoidable damage. The more you know about your generator, fuel system, runtime, and maintenance schedule, the better prepared you are. Watch the video for a quick look at this propane setup.
