A mom from California stayed up with me until my toddler fell back asleep at 3:41am 😭❤️ I don’t know her name. I don’t know why she was awake either. But for a little while last night, some random mom across the country made my house feel way less lonely. My toddler woke up and was just… UP. Not the cute little “mommy 🥺” then roll over and go back to sleep kind of awake. I mean AWAKE awake 😂 Wants water. Doesn’t want water. Needs the blanket. Kicks the blanket off. Wants me beside him. Doesn’t want me touching him. Asks a question. Then another question. Then somehow we’re discussing snacks at 3am 😭 So I sat there. And sat there. And eventually looked at the clock. 3:14am. My husband was asleep. The house was dark. And I started getting that 3am feeling where everything seems 10x harder. Logically I know he’ll eventually sleep. Morning will come. Coffee will exist 😂☕️ But my 3am brain is like: this is your life now. Nobody else is awake. Good luck 😭 I grabbed my phone and opened the map. There were little lights everywhere. Each dot was another mom awake RIGHT THEN. Feeding. Pumping. Rocking. Walking hallways. Trying to get toddlers back to sleep. Doing that insanely slow crib transfer where one wrong move means you’re starting over 😂 Then I saw a mom from California. She sent me a hug. ❤️ That’s literally it. A tiny little hug on my phone from a woman I’ve never met. And omg I almost cried 😂🥺 She didn’t know I’d already tried leaving twice or that I was exhausted. She just knew another mom was awake. And somehow that was enough. I sent one back. Then I kept looking at all those dots and suddenly my dark house didn’t feel like the only house in the world with someone awake inside it. Different states. Different countries. Different reasons for being awake. Same ridiculous hour. Eventually my toddler rolled over. Stopped talking. Got still. Then I heard THE breathing. Moms know 😂 That deep, slow breathing where you’re like okay… nobody move. Nobody cough. Nobody even THINK loudly. 3:41am. Finally asleep. And I immediately thought about the mom in California. Was her baby asleep yet? Was she nursing? Pumping? Did she have a toddler awake for absolutely no identifiable reason too? 😂 I have no idea. And honestly that’s kind of what I love about it. We didn’t need each other’s whole story. For a few minutes we were just two moms in dark houses saying: hey. I see you. ❤️ Motherhood is weird because you can have another human touching you basically all day and still feel incredibly lonely. Especially at night. Everything feels bigger at 3am. The crying feels louder. Your patience feels thinner. And somehow the clock moves approximately four minutes every three hours 😭😂 Sometimes I don’t need advice. I don’t need another sleep schedule. I don’t need somebody telling me what I should try. I just need another person to understand that 3:20am motherhood feels different. Last night that person happened to be a mom in California. So wherever you are… thank you 🥺❤️ My toddler finally went back to sleep. I really hope your kid did too 😂 And if you’re reading this during your own ridiculous middle-of-the-night wakeup, there are other lights on. Other moms feeding. Pumping. Rocking. Waiting. Scrolling. Doing the same invisible night shift you are. You might be sitting alone in the room. But you’re definitely not the only mom awake. 🌙❤️🥹 #mom #baby #MomsofTikTok #momtok #momlife
