Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) stated that there are four reasons for which a woman is married: 1) her wealth, 2) her lineage, 3) her beauty, and 4) her religiosity. He advised choosing a religious woman—that is, a woman who loves Allah, fears Him, and possesses true God-consciousness—because a woman with these qualities is honest, pure in heart and conscience, faithful, and devoted to her home and her spouse. The same applies to men. A man who believes in Allah with all his heart and is sincerely devoted to Him—fearing and loving Him with the awareness that Allah witnesses his every action—treats his wife with loyalty and honesty; he never hurts her, places great importance on her happiness, and does not take a single step without her knowledge. May our Almighty Lord include us among the servants with whom He is pleased. Amen.
