I was essentially tricked by my dentist into getting veneers at 18. Two of my front teeth never came in, I had partial dentures for years after having years of braces to correct other issues. I told them I wanted to keep my natural teeth, just wanted a more permanent option than the denture. They suggested a bridge but NEVER TOLD ME IT INVOLVED SHAVING MY TEETH. Didn’t find out until they had already started the procedure💀 so not everyone who got veneers at an early age even wanted them lol

It feels like getting a random joint replacement for no reason at age 30! Also don’t they hurt/become extremely sensitive? The nerve is quite exposed, even if inside the veneer….

Speak on it!! There are lots of reasons to get veneers but to shave down perfectly healthy teeth is INSANE. Actors that do it are limiting themselves greatly with them, you can’t undo them.

I don’t like my natural teeth. They’re kinda ugly but they’re EXTREMELY healthy. I’ve never even had a cavity. I’d rather have braces for the rest of my life than get veneers

I had to get one (1) healthy tooth whittled down to a nub and I cried while they did it lol. I hated messing with my natural tooth!! and ya know what, that tooth's nerves ended up dying due to the damage and I had to get a root canal. so now I have a corpse tooth. I mean it's fine now but I would have rather kept the healthy tooth?? I'd NEVER fuck with all my teeth at once 😭

I get so frustrated because I have two genetically missing teeth and insurance won’t cover anything related to getting it fixed since it’s genetic and then I see people with great natural teeth just fuck them up!!!!

As someone with terrible dental genetics, I haaaaate everyone deciding to ruin their perfectly good teeth for something completely unnecessary. I would kill for better natural teeth and theyre letting people shave theirs off???? 😭😭😭

Deeply unfortunately for me, my parents also spent like 20k on braces, etc. for me to fix my teeth.... but it turns out that I have always had a severe tongue tie that caused my palate not to widen the way it should have. Back in the 2000's dentists weren't really aware that was a thing, so instead of dealing with that, they pulled four of my pre-molars to give me "more room" in my mouth. Now, I'm spending another 20k and have 6 screws sunk into the bone in the roof of my mouth to fix it because my teeth are all collapsing inwards, my palate is getting even narrower, and I'm grinding my teeth so hard they're cracking 😭

My Great-Grandfather was a dentist. His advice cascaded down through our family. Do absolutely everything possible to save your teeth. Do not have it pulled unless it’s to save your life. So veneers would fall in that category. Only get them if you have to. 🦷🪥💙
