@joyelizabethh: For context, my hair is incredibly thick and low porosity. It takes several hours to air dry and will turn into a giant puff without blow drying straight #fyp #wavyhair #hairroutine #wavyhairroutine #curlyhair

High porosity hair!! You hair is like mine. it REPELS water. Tip 1- Mousse in the shower WHILE SOPPING WET like mousse in hand, flip your hair, soak it, turn away, mousse it. Mousse the fk out of it. if you think you're using too much mousse, you're almost using enough (trial and error will let you see how much works best for you but start with a fat glob). then, gel it. I like to use a spray gel and just make a nice cast around the moussed up hair before the hair can push out all the moisture. do a plop into a T-shirt or something cotton, but only for MOMENTS while you move to where you keep your hair dryer. pile it ALL into the diffuser, put it to your scalp, turn the dryer on LOW and hold it there for 15 seconds, to help harden the gel. Then diffuse in sections, turning the dryer OFF before lowering your hair, and getting back up to your scalp again before you turn it back on. DONT SCRUNCH IT. DON'T BRUSH IT. DONT TOUCH IT once you start diffusing. just lift in the diffuser, hold for 15 seconds, gently lower.

This is gonna sound like the dumbest fucking thing, but I saw someone in the hair industry say that you should be starting by applying conditioner before the shampoo. Apply it basically everywhere. Rinse lightly, don’t overdo it. Apply shampoo at the roots only and not to the ends. When you rinse, let it run through the conditioner at the ends. (optional second shampoo here). Then do conditioner mid length to ends, use your judgment on a good starting point for the conditioner. Do not go up too high to the root. I follow up with curlsmith curl cream before I even get out of the shower while my hair is soaking wet (it’s a pink pump bottle). I don’t know why this works, but it does. I also have a 50 fucking step routine and if you want that, I got you as well but I’m assuming you don’t want to spend two hours in front of a mirror on just hair. Stay strong, this shit is hard. 💛

Are you using low porosity hair products? This looks like it's either dry or had protein overload. both look similar.

Gel while the water is still running. Cup water, scrunch into hair with gel. Shower cap. Scrunch water out with towel. More gel. Diffuse dry.

Mine was similar, and I’m no hairstylist, however mine said to find hydrate products not protein products! Best thing was to make sure you’re not buying any “rebuilding/repair” products. Low porosity likes light weight products too!

Try brushing the doux honey foam and their honey custard through your hair with it dripping wet and then scrunching with a cotton tshirt!

Mine does this! I wet it under the tub again, put in my creams (leave-in/blow-dry), brush w a wet brush BEFORE I put mousse in, scrunch w mousse, then diffuse. I found that brushing with a wet brush in between helps a ton!!!!

So the way I do my hair is I wash it, condition and brush out the knots while it is wet and the conditioner is still in, rinse, and literally shake it out like a dog, and scrunch the excess out with a towel. I let it air dry because I have never gotten good results straight out the shower. Then I use a mister and get it wet all over (dripping), I use wavetech foam extra hold, and work it in root to ends. Scrunch away, hairspray for hold and then diffuse it on low to dry it.

Stop rinsing out all your conditioner on the ends… or before squeezing out water, add a bit more conditioner on all hair lower than shoulders and rinse out using only excess water still in hair before getting out…..

You probably have low porosity hair, meaning it kind of “resists” water. You’ll need to apply products on SOAKING wet hair. I typically use a spray bottle to re-wet mine throughout the process; but you could also try the bowl method.

Wha to do is I make sure to brush in conditioner in the shower and after I’m out of the shower I brush in leave in conditioner and a curl cream then put it in a cotton shirt to get as much water out as I can then let it air dry

I have 2B-2C hair and usually right before I get out the shower I wet my hair so it’s like SOPPING wet, then use my fingers to get it all upside down like flip it over my head. Then I use curl cream and leave in conditioner but not a whole lot cause you don’t want it to be too heavy for your waves to show. Comb all the product in with my fingers THEN I scrunch. Once scrunched you can use some gel but don’t comb it all in like the cream/conditioner just coat your hands and scrunch again. Scrunch or plop with microfiber towel or a tshirt and scrunch dry with the t-shirt. I don’t have a fancy diffuser so I just air dry and DONT TOUCH IT or it’ll get all frizzy

What are you using? You need lots of moisture. Put a leave in conditioner in it.

You need a good hair mask. Brush your hair while the mask is in, rinse well. Put whatever product you want to use (leave in, gel, mousse, whatever) while it’s soaking wet. Do not touch with your hands. Use a cotton tshirt to scrunch out the extra moisture. Then either diffuse or plop. No touchey with your hands.
