But I don't know what else to do with the alternative, so I keep saying the version where it gets easier, because the other version doesn't have anywhere to go from there. — So what's the actual ask. — The actual ask is smaller than all of that. It's not even about it getting easier. I don't need it to get easier, not really, not if I'm honest. I just need you to still be here when it doesn't. — That's a different request. — It is. It's the real one, I think. Everything else, the trudnosti, the getting through it, the future version where it's all lighter, that's just decoration around the one thing I actually mean. — Which is. — Stay. Just that. I can survive the hard parts staying hard. I can survive it never getting lighter at all, if I have to. What I don't think I can survive is doing that and looking over and finding out you left somewhere in the middle of it, quietly, while I was still busy promising you it would all be worth it eventually. — You don't actually know if it'll be worth it. — No. I don't. I have no proof of that. I have no proof of any of it. It's just the only thing I have to offer, so I keep offering it, over and over, hoping it's enough to make you want to stick around long enough to find out if I was right. — And if you're not. — Then at least you were still here when I was wrong.
