Do you have a solution for long term data storage? Like cold storage, not immediately accessible. I have found that optical media deteriorates fast and have been cycling through hard drives and flash drives but constantly on edge with the fear of bit rot and simultaneous failure.

Most DVD-R blanks I see online are 4.7GB but most HD movies I have are over 4.7GB. How would I store the longer/higher quality movies? Would I need to use DVD+R DL?

idk if the rule still applies now but I remember in early 2000 they'd say burn it at the slowest speed possible to avoid disc read errors 😆😂

I would recommend using rewritable discs because the standard blank DVDs are write only meaning once the data is on their it’s permanent, but with RW discs you can use them over and over again.
