No one within tribes would be buying white sage from a retail store. You absolutely not keeping us from access our medicines.

I feel like white sage should be hard to source. Like you should have to know a guy.

an accessibility argument is so out of place here

if youre an active part of a close practice, 99% chance you already know how and where to get something for it anyway. more than people not in that practice

As an Indigenous person, I know where to get things that are part of my closed practice. It is not inaccessible, it is a “if you know you know” thing. And only the people who need to know, know.

hate how they wanna bring up accessibility when it doesn’t apply as a straw man argument but don’t want to talk abt real inaccessibility issues!!

if there are specific items you need as part of YOUR cultural practice, you know where to get them. I know where to get a mezuzah, menorah candles, etc. if white sage is part of your closed cultural practice, then your commmunity is based in the area where white sage is native, and you know people who have it.

It's obvious that people in closed practices already know where to find their supplies

if someone is involved in the community or culture that the closed practice is from, they usually will have options within the community or at least be aware of where to get them. places with tons of closed practices just make it easier for others outside of the practice to misuse them

The amount of integrity and transparency you have with your business is why I still follow you. I got a couple things from your store a while back for a friend who's Jewish. It felt so good knowing where I was getting it from. (I got the pomegranate candle and she loved it!)

As someone who is apart of a closed practice, I promise you we know where to get our supplies. I would be very shocked if someone didn’t know where to get supplies for their practice-

Tbh the attitude from that comment screams how commodified cultures and practices have been, that people assume that others don’t have access to their own communities

As someone in a Closed ATR, we do not want someone to just deep dive into information without practice context , protocols etc. the worst thing in our practices someone can do is to do something right without any knowledge of what is being required from doing our practices correctly . I blame a lot of it on our society not having a good understanding of the nuances of orthopraxic centered religions. We are too familiar with orthodoxy and its rules and habits but barely any on a ritual and practice centered religion. You do not want to some how invoke Orisa for example and not know how you should 1.) speak to them 2.)give/do protocols and restrictions for offering giving 3.)to discern consequences of not doing the previous statement 4.) or how to access the appropriate methodology to discernwhat they are saying. It can be a complete disaster and that information will only be given via those of appropriate positions and experience

It’s weird people would object. Those of us in closed practices tend to know where to get our medicines and tools. If someone in a closed practice doesn’t know- they should ask their teacher/ initiator. Not everyone needs to be selling everything. If you are in a closed practice, go to your community first. 🙏🌺
