Set in 1990s Los Angeles, the series follows Wanda Bell and Leon Simmons as they try to reinvent themselves while the crack era gives way to the explosive rise of West Coast hip-hop. Wanda sees an opportunity to help take West Coast rap mainstream, but street politics, gang wars, ambitious artists and record labels looking to capitalize on the culture make that easier said than done. What makes this one even more interesting is the mix of familiar faces and brand-new characters. Gail Bean returns as Wanda alongside Isaiah John as Leon, with Quincy Chad also returning as Big Deon. New additions include Asante Blackk, Peyton Alex Smith, Simmie “Buddy” Sims III, Mykelti Williamson, Nicki Micheaux, Brandon Mychal Smith, Isidora Goreshter, Eric Balfour, Richard Portnow, Zaire Adams and Demetrius Grosse. Instead of simply trying to recreate Snowfall, this looks like it could take that same gritty LA world and explore a completely different hustle — the birth and business of West Coast rap. 🎶💰 With returning characters connecting it to the original series and a fresh cast expanding the world, this should be a FUN ride for Snowfall fans.
