they built an entire temple for a single TOOTH? 😳 🦷 The Temple of the Tooth (📌 Sri Dalada Maligawa) is one of the most sacred places in all of Sri Lanka! It’s believed to house Buddha’s actual tooth relic, kept deep inside golden caskets that are never opened to the public. 🥁 Twice a day, monks perform ancient rituals known as “Thevava,” and the sound literally fills every corner of the temple, while everyone brings lotus flowers and lines up to offer prayers for peace, protection, and good fortune. 🪷 🐘 You'll also see massive pairs of tusks everywhere inside the temple. They’re real elephant tusks, said to come from elephants that died naturally (at least officially 😬). Placing those tusks near the relic was meant to honor and protect it. 👣 The long line you see in the video is where both locals and tourists line up to get close to the golden door that leads to the chamber where the Buddha’s tooth relic is kept. You can’t actually see the relic itself, but during certain times of the day (especially during the rituals) the outer door is opened for a few minutes. People come hours early to secure a spot because being near the relic is believed to bring blessings, peace, and good fortune. 👑 Fun fact: It’s said that for centuries, whoever held possession of the relic held the right to rule Sri Lanka.
