If she did it once or twice that would be fine then I would cover but if she did it all the time at some point she’ll get in trouble and then she’ll say so and so covered for me and then I would get fired too.

My old boss used to take a two hour lunch every day then she’d complain that she was always so behind on her work and had to “stay late”. I finally lost it one day because I always ate at my desk, arrived 2-3 hours before her, so I would leave before her and she had the audacity to try and get me in trouble for my schedule. I told HER boss that it’s not on me that she takes a two hour lunch every day and I have better time management. Yea….it never got mentioned again.

If I were the person sending the message, I would assume that no reply to being asked to cover me meant that the other person was not comfortable doing that. The woman taking long lunch is in essence playing Russian roulette and ineptly she was going to get caught.

nta. Rebecca needs to be a responsible adult and come back on time from her lunches. if where she's going is too far.. then you don't go. plain and simple. if this is a continued thing and it's affecting my job then I'm not covering for you.
