I do this, but not for manipulative or destructive means; it's just easier to fit in when you're the same as everyone else. I wouldn't call it a singular personality trait or a skill; it's more an amalgamation of mental illnesses and structured thought processes mixing in a particular way that, once you understand it, can be beneficial.
