@itsbodily: “It gets easier.” Everyone tells you that. But let us tell you how. Because breastfeeding doesn’t usually go from hard to easy overnight. It changes in stages. Stage 1 is initiation. You and your baby are learning how to do this together. Feeding can feel constant. Your breasts may feel full, tender or unpredictable. Your nipples are adjusting. Your milk production is establishing. And your newborn may want to nurse 8–12+ times a day. It can feel relentless because, for a while, it kind of is. Then comes Stage 2: regulation. Your body begins to understand how much milk your baby actually needs. Your breasts may stop feeling so full all the time. Leaking and engorgement can decrease. Your baby gets bigger, stronger and often more efficient at feeding. The mechanics that once required your full concentration start becoming familiar. And one day you realize breastfeeding doesn’t feel quite so all-consuming anymore. Not because you suddenly got better at handling something hard. Because breastfeeding itself changed. If you’re in Stage 1 right now, we’re going to spend a lot of time talking about what’s happening in your body, what comes next, and why everyone keeps promising you it gets easier. 🤍 Bodily provides educational information, not medical advice. #Breastfeeding #Postpartum
