@dr.katie.h: I dropped the boys off this morning, blinked, and somehow it was time to pick them up again 🤯 And it has given me a whole new appreciation for the person who keeps our house and our lives running while I’m at work. So, Tim… publicly acknowledging that every single time I’ve come home from work and thought, “What have you actually done all day?” I was, in fact, an idiot 😂 Turns out keeping small humans alive, fed, entertained and vaguely on schedule IS the entire day. Consider this my formal apology and appreciation post. ❤️ And to the parents who work, parent AND somehow have clean floors and food in the fridge… HOW?!!

We don’t, not really. Something always has to give. And it’s usually our sanity. And sleep. 😳

What an honest post. Proves that you and your husband both have the best roles that work for each of you. 🎩👒🎓s off to you both for working to your strengths while still acknowledging the need for one-on-one time with your children! You've both got this 😘

We’re not. I work 3 jobs and I’m a single parent. Things get done when they get done. Don’t put too much pressure on yourself, as long as everyone is fed, watered and safe, the dishes will still be there tomorrow 👍🏻

I work from home for my husbands business when I can, I have a neurodivergent 3 year old & a 2 year old, I feel like I never have time to breathe & feel awful when my partner comes home & it looks like you’ve been laid up at home all day 🤣 Tim does an incredible job & his laid back humour about his days always makes me look to the lighter side of things, he’s fab as are you Dr Katie, an inspirational family by far

Many years ago I was a single mum of 3, two jobs to keep us afloat. Organisation was the key. Sometimes though I wouldn’t get to bed until 2/3am then was up at 5. The autistic child was incredibly demanding. It was an exhausting time. I didn’t have a village. I did it 100% on my own.

The answer to what have you done all day is: a whole lof of everything and none of actually what needs to be done 😂 Some days all I do is tidy up and my husband gets home and its a mess. Kids are fed, happy and alive though x

I’m a single mum by choice to my beautiful little girl, and I don’t have it all together, but routine and doing as much as possible the night before works wonders! I get overwhelmed easily, little things bug me and my Mum more often than not sneaks into my house and steals my laundry and for that I am forever grateful.

I raised my daughter as a single mum on my own but admittedly wine got me through it. 🍷

It’s so hard, 2 kids 2 shift workers, no family to help, I did all the housework washing & cooking, played with kid, park 3 times a day. Just had to do it. Got lots done when after bedtime. Cook & freeze too. I taught my kids to help, tidy toys etc praise everything doesn’t have to be perfect.

No sleep & plenty of coffee ! Meal plan , house work cleaning plan . 10 min tidy ups before we leave the house and go to bed ! And do a load of washing each day.

something always gives... some days it's the house cleaning, others it's your sanity. We never actually have ALL the plates safely balanced, just enough

He has a routine and a rhythm to it from practice, he didn’t start with it down pat. The kids know where they are in the dance. You do him a disservice to suggest you can just drop in and replicate. It’s practice, familiarity and experience. Just as he couldn’t just drop in and sew up a patient

Women’s rights movement both helped but equally stuffed things up. Work like you don’t have kids and have kids like you don’t. The family unit is fractured because of it.
