@orthodox_society: The Most Holy Theotokos holds a unique place in the life of the Orthodox Church—not because she takes attention away from Christ, but because her entire life points us toward Him. When the Archangel Gabriel announced that she would bear the Son of God, she responded with complete humility and obedience: “Let it be to me according to your word.” At the wedding at Cana, her words were just as simple: “Do whatever He tells you.” That is the Theotokos. She carried Christ in her womb, raised Him, followed Him, and stood at the foot of His Cross. Her entire life was centered upon her Son. Orthodox Christians do not worship Mary. Worship belongs to God alone. We honor her as the Mother of God and ask for her prayers, just as Christians have done for centuries.
