@mamaot_shannon: Reading to your toddler isn’t just about getting through the book—it’s one of the best ways to build language skills. 📚✨ Here are 5 simple ways to make storytime even more beneficial: 📖 Pause often. Give your toddler time to imitate words, fill in familiar phrases, or make fun animal sounds. 👄 Let them see your face. Sit where they can watch how your mouth moves to make different sounds and words. 🖼️ Don’t feel like you have to read every word. Point to pictures, ask questions, make up your own stories, and let your child help lead the book. 🗣️ Repeat what they say. If they point to a dog and say “dog!” or bark, repeat it back and expand on it: “Yes! A big brown dog!” 👋 Add gestures. Wave, point, clap, blow kisses, or act out the story. Pairing words with actions helps build understanding and keeps little ones engaged. The best storytime isn’t about finishing the book—it’s about the back-and-forth interaction that helps your child’s language grow. ❤️ 💬 What’s your toddler’s favorite bedtime book right now? Share it in the comments so we can all add some new favorites to our library! #ToddlerDevelopment #LanguageDevelopment #ReadToYourKids #PediatricOT #ToddlerTips
