In fact, drones for $500 now have an 8-pound warhead and fly 20 km, drones for $800 can fly 50-60 km with a similar warhead, and if you look at the limit of such a drone for $800, it is 120 kilometers with a 2-pound warhead, but when adding an aircraft carrier drone for $2,000, you can launch drones for $500 to a range of 100 km without sacrificing the weight of the warhead and such a carrier will be reusable, fiber-optic drones for $1,500 fly at a range of 50 km and have great advantages, since at such ranges they give a 4K picture inside buildings and can be used as a unique type of disposable one-way reconnaissance

"Every day I get a dozen new comments about how cheap FPV drones are going to mean the end of..." I don't know about all those things, but I DO foresee the end of rifles. Are Ukrainian drone operators even issued cheap rifles like the AK anymore? Is anybody in Ukraine putting much effort into marksmanship training with bolt-action rifles? When one man can unalive another man at ten kilometers with a $400 drone, why devote your career to practicing with a $4000 sniper rifle that has a range of one kilometer and requires line of sight?

People don't understand that the war in the Ukraine has bogged down into a WW1 style warfare because of the poor training and dictrian of the Russian army. So drones become a viable option for the type of fighting that is going on. In a large scale war of movement then they become less effective especially with the new anti drone tech that has been developed since the fighting has begun.

solar panel, it flies for a while, recharges, continues. or send a larger more expensive gas recharger at way points. computers are smaller every year, and even self contained drones that do not require GPS or communications will be cheap and effective. underwater drones can also recharge with solar. cheap weapons are not 1 v 1 better by any measure but cost, but when it costs 10 or 100 or even 1000 times more to stop it, you do not need to win on the battlefield, you win economically.
