@thesameerproject: This is Um Saeed. In a single moment, a missile struck her family while they were sleeping. Six members of her family were martyred, her sons and grandchildren among them. She witnessed children burned, torn apart, one decapitated - by the occupation. She survived what no person should ever have to see. And still, Um Saeed has people depending on her. She now helps care for the wives of her sons who were killed and for their orphaned children. Alongside unimaginable grief and trauma, she carries another daily burden: how to feed the family that remains. On July 26, The Sameer Project reached families in Old Project Camp 5 in Beit Lahia, where Um Saeed lives, distributing 448 Thai-style chicken breast and vegetable meals. The distribution cost for this camp was $1,683 including 11% banking fees. Food cannot erase what Um Saeed witnessed. But it can mean that, for one day at least, she does not also have to wonder how she will feed the widows and orphans left in her care. These are the families our distributions were reaching.
