air milooooow :
A neurology consultant told me I am autistic - highly masking, highly functioning. Previously, I was always been told that 'I might be autistic' by some other doctors i'm working with.
But no way i could be autistic, I work in Emergency department in a very busy hosp! He stated his reasonings and I argued with all of that. But the one that silenced me, when he said a typical person wont cry that hard over a broken cup, and refused to drink anything the whole shift just because her cup shattered to pieces. Then I replied, that cup was mine and it got my favourite cartoon on it! Anyone would be upset when their favourite cup got broken. Then he asked back, but would they refused to drink just because of that reason.
And that day, my friend, i got a free official diagnosis from the consultant himself.
And guess what, i'm still here in ED. But much calmer now, because now I understand, no matter how hard i try to fit into 'the society' , my brain just simply choose to ignore it.
Wow, funny how the truth comes in a very casual way.
