We remodeled our house 12 years ago from a heavy smoker. We recently remodeled our bathroom and change the steam shower layout. Unbelievably, we have yellow streaks coming from the ceiling-out of the blue and it’s because of her smoke!!!!

Nah you totally correct. We didn’t even have that bad of a nicotine problem in the house we bought, I primed, and it STILL bleeds through in the bathroom on occasion. 🤢

It will 100% bleed through & the smell is absolutely horrendous😩 the person who lived in my house before me was a heavy smoker & when trying to steam the wallpaper off the walls it was disgustingly stinking, about 30 layers of different wallpaper and the smell took so long to get rid of. Got the house start of November 2022 couldn’t move in until end of March 2023 because of how badly it needed deep cleaned and aired out, literal months of scrubbing😭

I moved into an apartment that had been painted before I moved in. They clearly painted over nicotine, it bled through every time I showered. It was absolutely disgusting.

To confirm painting over or sealing nicotine doesn’t work, my 80 year old apartment building used to allow smoking inside, when new owners acquired it they made it non smoking. My bathroom walls bleed brown when they get condensation because of the cigarette smoke. My house smells like animal urine when it’s too wet outside, even tho everything has been replaced. It’s literally in the brick. It will never go away.

we used to flip houses. we bought a tiny little adorable(later) cottage. Every room was nicotine'd like that. we scrubbed forever, and painted. you HAVE to, paint alone won't do it.

you are 100% right about the bleed thru! we had a house where the people before us smoked heavily in the primary bathroom and they sealed over it and painted. nicotine bled through and down the walls like amityville after we showered! so gross!
