I think both sides had a point. For Tony: The Avengers were a U.S. based group that was constantly crossing international borders and capturing/killing people. At the very least, there should be official channels with the local governments. For Steve: I also would not trust one single politician on the entire planet.

I can understand cap, but Tony was 100000% correct about the collateral damage piece and how many lives they were taking. He didn’t love the idea either, but he didn’t want to forget how many lives they were disrupting or taking just trying to take down one enemy. His entire fortune was funding wars and he couldn’t do it anymore

i think in the context of the mcu it makes sense to be on cap’s side bc we as viewers obviously know that the heroes are good guys but if it was real life i’d probably want the people with enhanced abilities to answer to someone. not sure i’d want their deployment to be up to the UN bc they are historically bad at actually helping but they’re the best we’ve got rn so idk
