It can also involve how protective your nervous system has become. ⚡ After an injury, pain protects you by discouraging movements your brain believes could cause more damage. ⚡ But even after tissues heal, the nervous system can sometimes remain hypersensitive. Movements that were previously safe may begin triggering pain earlier than they should. ⚡ Fear, frustration, constantly checking the pain, and repeatedly expecting movement to hurt can reinforce that protective response.
