@alliestyx: Old Disney understood that nighttime didn’t always have to be scary. Sometimes it was the little pocket of time when everyone else was asleep, the ordinary rules stopped applying, and magic was allowed to happen. #olddisney #liminalspaces #nightscene #cinderella
i feel this way about this one episode of tom n jerry

You are right. Old Disney at night was so great, because most kids weren’t out at night, so the cartoons felt magical and mysterious.

This is such a beautiful point. There’s a specific feeling I got seeing Lady and the Tramp and Dalmatians during the night scenes. It sucks you in.

THIS IS WHERE COLOR THEORY PUTS IN THE HEAVY LIFTING!! And they knew it. Old Disney nights are cozy deep blues, dark but comforting clear silhouettes (there’s nothing hiding in the night). There’s always a source of light: the silvery moon, fireflies, stars, a warm street lamp or candle burning. And you know what? The park feels exactly like this. The knew how to do scary dark too, non-descript shapes, black on grey, maybe a pair of eyes or a sound that doesn’t belong.

I remember having a book version of Cinderella and I would stare at one page that showed the castle at night with her running out of it...it looked so amazing and there was almost a nostalgic feeling for a place that didn't actually exists. also beauty and the beast had lots of night scenes 🥰

I know it’s not whimsical like old Disney, but Batman the animated series captures this PERFECTLY. Perfect show for a rainy night.

When they made movies to look beautiful and mean somthing. Now it’s all about money and competition for ai. True art is intelligent thought let to run free

Yes! Old Disney nights are part of what gave us that Disney magic feeling. Today's movies might have funny jokes, cool scenes, or amazing effects we remember, but they're not usually what we think of when we think "Disney magic." Those older movies gave us a feeling we carried into real life. A quiet summer night, glowing windows, empty streets, moonlight, that weird stillness when everyone else is asleep... we'd feel it again. Disney somehow trademarked that feeling in our childhood brains, so every time real life felt like that afterward, we recognized it.
