Praus is the same word used for Jesus himself in Matthew 11:29, paired with “humble in heart.” It’s the same word used for the king riding in on a donkey in Matthew 21, a donkey, specifically not a warhorse, straight out of Zechariah. The same Greek word family shows up in the fruit of the Spirit alongside kindness and self-control. And centuries before any of this, Jewish scholars translating the Old Testament into Greek used forms of this word for the meek and humble, no swords involved. And when violence was actually on the table? Gethsemane. Peter pulls an actual sword. Jesus tells him to put it away. If “meek” secretly meant “violent guy holding back,” that was the moment to prove it. He didn’t.
