HOMEMADE DATE SYRUP, DATE & NUT ROLL and DATE SEED COFFEE 🌴 ONE FRUIT, 3 INCREDIBLE WAYS 🌴🤎 Homemade date syrup, a loaded date & nut roll, and coffee made from the seeds — using almost every part of the date. 🍯 1. HOMEMADE DATE SYRUP • 300 g (10.6 oz) pitted dates • Water as needed Simmer the dates in water until very soft. Mash them, then strain through a clean cloth, squeezing out as much liquid as possible. Return the liquid to the pan and simmer until reduced to a thick, glossy syrup. It thickens more as it cools. 🥜 2. DATE & NUT ROLL • 200 g (7 oz) soft pitted dates • 30 g (1 oz) walnuts • 30 g (1 oz) almonds • 30 g (1 oz) pistachios • 30 g (1 oz) pumpkin seeds • 30 g (1 oz) sunflower seeds • Sesame seeds • Butter • Shredded coconut, for coating Melt the butter in a pan, add the dates and cook until they soften. Add the nuts, seeds and sesame and mix until everything comes together into a sticky mixture. Shape into a log, coat generously with shredded coconut, chill until firm, then slice. ☕️ 3. DATE SEED COFFEE Save the pits from your dates. Wash and dry them thoroughly, roast until deep brown and aromatic, then grind. Brew with hot water and filter just like coffee. Dates → syrup.
