We all feel like outsiders in Utah sometimes anyway. I also don’t think BYU is what it used to be, it’s much easier now to find your group and feel like you belong. My entire friend group at BYU was non LDS. You don’t have to be actively trying to grow closer to your faith to benefit from going to BYU. It’s simply a good school, and a lot of the Honor Code principles can be good for any college student, regardless of religion. Things like avoiding drugs, alcohol, and casual sex can help you stay focused on your goals, education, health, and future. Plenty of college students across the U.S. spend their first couple of years heavily partying, drinking, or doing other things that can negatively affect their health and education. BYU offers a different kind of college environment, and I think that can be valuable even if you’re not LDS.

Unless you’re trying to work on not practicing on your sexuality and follow your religion, why would you want to put yourself in that environment ?

What happened to “make heaven crowded?” I thought our goal was expanding God’s kingdom here on earth. Why is there suddenly a division when it comes to BYU Students? It should be a place for all of God’s children. Couldn’t agree more Leen ❤️

If you are an LGBTQ student, that campus is not safe. Elder Gilbert worked hard to remove any affirming faculty and force ultra orthodoxy on campus. You have better options where you will be treated like the valuable human you are. You deserve to be seen!
