Yep our basement flooded after almost a foot of rain. Thankfully my husband said our sump pump failed so it was covered under insurance (and was the truth!) Many people on our area had flooding that wasn’t covered by insurance

Now I don’t live in a place that floods, but isn’t another term for flooding you should use water intrusion if it comes in from outside? Or am I crazy and/or misremembering something?

Nah…people using the wrong word doesn’t mean automatic denial. They ask questions and determine if it’s a covered loss based on the policy. And advising folks to call a PA…who IS gonna cost folks money out of pocket? WILD! Call a restoration company and let them assist with the insurance company. Not that hard

Not always , theres are a lot of policies that have exclusions and dont cover sudden or accidental discharge of water and or steam , you have to check your policies, some policies also have a cap of 3k for mitigation, 10k for damages ,
