deadass, my life motto as someone who spent more time watching millennials online than I did talking to people my own age is "I am cringe, but I am free" (you have to picture me saying this as I spin around as Peter Griffin with the tiny arms in the meadow in that gif that people always edit with that song that goes like "and it's you and me in the summertime")

There's an obsession with always looking calm uninterested and annoyed, you shouldn't like things, you shouldn't be excited, you should worry abour your age every second and define yourself and others based on that number as if it meant anything, this will all stunt your growth as a person because sometimes life is about making the "embarrassing" choice and choosing who you are based on what you want and like

"Commodity whimsy" is exactly right. In my 20s (late 2000s-early 2010s) I would do things like wear a sparkly beret and sparkly dress with velvet shoes to the office. Or dress up in a silly costume with my friends to go to a concert. Why? Because it felt fun! I was really not thinking about whether it was popular on Pinterest or whatever

When’s the call is a state of mind. It’s a lifestyle that you must have chose from a young age for me. Personally, I have always been when it has been a part of my being to be whimsical. I look back at my childhood and I see my outfits and the hair accessories in which I used to use. My inspiration was fancy Nancy, the true whimsical icon of my time. I don’t understand all these larpers trying to pretend to be whimsical however they will immediately make fun of somebody truly whimsical

I'm genz (most people say my birthyear is genz however some think its alpha it just depends on personal opinion) and I have always appreciated millennial's authenticity. I grew up with a elder millennial mother so I experienced alot of their culture and I love their optimism in music/movies; actual people probably weren't optimistic especially during the recession. I aspire to be as joyous and whimsical as millennials

I think instead of worrying about the younger generation, just focus on your own happiness and whimsy. You’re the older ones so I don’t understand why you get so bothered by the younger generation. gen x gets bullied by millennials all the time and they are much more chill about it.
