@adytum_official: The 10,000 steps a day target came from a 1965 pedometer ad in Japan, not from science. When researchers actually checked, the benefit maxed out sooner. In almost 17,000 older women, the risk of dying dropped fast and flattened around 7,500 steps. Going from barely moving to 4,400 steps a day already meant 41% lower risk. A review of 47,000 people found the same curve. One caveat: these track people over time, so it’s a strong link, not proof, and very active people may gain a little more. That number was a slogan, and you passed the part that matters thousands of steps ago. Save this for when your watch nags you, and tell me your step goal. Not a doctor, this isn’t medical advice.
