My neighbor was getting robbed. The gun jammed. They were tussling over the gun. He got the gun from dude, shot the dude once, he died. Neighbor got either 10 or 15 yrs. Tragedy.

Even in your home you have to literally barricade yourself into a bedroom or closet before you can claim self-defense. I remember taking a DOJ 🔫 class. My instructor said if I EVER was in a situation in my home, I’d have to be in the furthest possible corner/room on the phone with dispatch or recording the interaction. That level of control when you’re under threat is almost impossible if you’re truly in fear.

According to Maryland Law, you have a “duty to retreat”. You have to literally be trapped in a corner with no way out SAFELY, and have to hurt the other person to defend yourself and retreat, in order for the self defense law to apply. I have a copy of this law in my phone

And they keep telling us to “carry” to protect ourselves. When I was growing up it was damn near impossible to get approved to carry. I don’t even know how it works now because I gave up.

I called the police and by the time they got to the scene, I protected myself by holding the person down, the first thing the cop said was he can arrest me right there. Told me I should of ran away and called police. This happened in Baltimore in 2010
