So sad Americans are afraid of getting emergency help because they can’t pay.

Reg Nurse here…and Dental Hygienist before that …ICE!!!! And alternate Tylenol and Ibuprofen. They work differently. The TMJ joint is vascular and highly innervated with sensory receptors. It will be a few days but keeping the inflammation at a minimum is best

If you’re no longer working and do not have income, you should qualify for Medicaid.

You might think u have it in place but it could even be just a centimeter off. I would just have them make sure it’s in the right spot

I have TMJ and unfortunately understand that pain. After dislocating and relocating it’s usually sore for a day or two in my experience. I usually will take extra strength Tylenol and ice the side of my face. Sometimes heat feels good on it, too. Try to be aware of clenching your jaw

You poor thing. You seriously cannot catch a break. I’m so sorry this happened on top of everything else you’re dealing with. Please don’t let having no insurance stop you from getting your jaw checked, especially if you’re still in significant pain. Even if you got it back into place yourself, trauma like that can also cause a fracture or other injury. Wisconsin has hospital financial assistance/charity care for uninsured patients, and 211 Wisconsin can help connect you with free or reduced cost medical care. If the pain is severe, your bite feels different, you can’t open or close your mouth normally, or you have swelling or numbness, please go get evaluated. Take care of yourself too, momma. 🫶

GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM. Even if u dont have health insurance they have to see you. They cant turn u down. I think there is a way to file for emergency health insurance? Frick the cost of the medical bills anyway... U need to be able to be alive and well to take care of ur girl! U are in my thoughts... Keep ur head up and put some frozen peas on it!

I understand not having insurance makes this so much scarier, but please don’t let that stop you from going to the ER. ❤️They still have to evaluate you for an emergency condition even if you’re uninsured or unable to pay. Severe pain when biting after a dislocated jaw really needs to be checked to make sure there isn’t a fracture or other injury. Your health is more important than the bill right now. 🙏 ✨☀️

I’ve had to go to the er many times when I couldn’t pay. They won’t turn you away and you can set up payment plans. Your health is more important than having a bill.

I’m a caregiver for adults like Cameron. I get asked all the time why I keep going back after each time I’ve been hit, bit, or even sent to the hospital, but it’s hard to put into words how it’s easier said than done to just walk away. Especially if the injury is a complete accident. Just try to take care of yourself, mama! You aren’t alone!

I'm sorry to repeat what everyone is saying but you should go to the emergency room. I understand no insurance, and I understand wanting to get it back in place yourself, but you're still feeling intense pain and not being able to bite down. This is an emergency, please go.

They’ll usually give you a self pay discount if you don’t have insurance and it actually comes out cheaper than paying for health insurance would be worth still checking.

Jaw pain is noooo joke. My jaw dislocates because of a genetic condition, and it's always followed by a multi day migraine. The nearby muscles lock up with the strain. Had no idea you're without insurance, that is absolutely terrifying oh my god. I know you've got a lot going on with your health, I can't imagine the stress you're under.

As someone with TMJD who went through a period of dislocating (and relocating) my jaw ON THE DAILY, I 100% empathize with you and know exactly the pain you’re going through. Yes the biting down pain is very normal. I can’t say how long the pain will last because I did end up having to see a specialist
