Its just about living expenses, norway is expensive and obviously if you make a lot of money you wanna make more by marrying someone who makes same or more in order to have good living environment especially if youre gonna have kids.

I can confirm. After my divorce I met what felt like my perfect woman. An equal. Similar background and education. Both had failed relationships with daughters the same age. Two months dating and was amazing. It was like we were teens again falling in love for the first time. So the difference was I never had any taste for the corporate ladder. I did tech sales and business consulting, she had risen to CMO of a large corporation. We didn’t discuss income but I’m very sure I made more but she had more “status.” I felt that evened out and given everything else was amazing I fully invested emotionally. Then one weekend 3 months in she had visitors from her old job come and visit. The next week I got the talk and dump. Despite whatever she was feeling her friends convinced her I wasn’t good enough. Presumably because I didn’t hold a title higher than hers.
