People act like watching Mushoku Tensei means you're supposed to agree with everything Rudeus does, but that's never been the point of the story. He's introduced as a loser with a ton of issues, not some perfect hero you're meant to look up to. The whole appeal is watching someone who hit rock bottom get a second chance and slowly become a better person. You don't have to defend every scene or pretend there aren't parts that make people uncomfortable. That's fair but saying the show supports everything Rudeus does just because it shows it is a pretty weak argument. By that logic, any story with a murderer, criminal, or villain would be endorsing their actions too. At the end of the day, most fans aren't watching because they think Rudeus is a saint. They're watching because the world building is great, the characters are interesting, and his growth over time is genuinely satisfying to see. You can criticize parts of the series all day, but reducing a long story to only its worst moments ignores why so many people connected with it in the first place. The ironic part of the haters compared to the fandom can literally be seen just through a ssingle comment section. Almost every MT fans or at least watchers writing paragraphs to prove their points and trying to elaborate the show, while haters just drop stickers and overused lines to say smt and they still say MT fans are problematic people.
