Oh no, that's YOUR medical records. If it's logged in your chart, it 100% belongs to you and you get to decide who reads it. Doesn't matter if it's a hospital, doctors office, pharmacy, therapist, etc.

So, I believe you can request the notes as the patient because it falls under HIPPA. Those are your records. Even the notes between you and the customer service agents. The fact that they denied your request could be a violation. Any medical records whether it is pharmacy, medical clinic, infusion center, and lab fall under HIPPA.

As someone with Medical PTSD/Whitecoat Syndrome…….but those aren’t in my chart because no one believes that a 10 yr old can have PTSD from hospital experiences at age 6.

If it’s part of your medical record, then you have every right to have a copy of it. If it’s a customer service recording or transcribing of notes, they might consider it proprietary. If you know any attorneys, I would have them write a letter requesting a copy of all phone calls made with you as the client.

you're allowed to request a record of your full chart and legally they have to give it to you. i teach this at work and emphasize that's why we do not put opinion notes in charts on interactions.
