It’s really interesting, captain America was the polar opposite of Tony stark, Tony stark makes selfless actions while acting like he did it in self interest. Captain America makes selfish actions while acting selfless, Tony stark sacrifices himself without question twice, while captain America goes back in time, abandons his mission for his love, which is normally seen in fiction as a super selfish action. Like the destroying the world for someone is typically a villian, but destroying someone for the world is a hero.

I love Tony’s response to Steve’s next line. He says “you’re not the type of guy to lay down on a wire and let somebody else crawl over you.” Tony respond to that by saying “I think I’d just cut the wire” I think these lines show these two characters philosophy on being a “hero” perfectly. Captain America is all about nobility, putting your life on the line for the guy behind you, Tony on the other hand will try and find a way for everybody to survive if he can and we see him do it multiple times throughout the entire mcu up until endgame when he realizes there’s only one way they’re gonna win and that’s if he dies and sacrifices himself

For a guy w brains who fell into all the sins humans easily subjected themselves too n still had the strength to craft n survive. n had the heart to sacrifice n blame for the actions he commits for who he protects. Cap could do the same n I stand by that. Cap was worthy for his role but iron man was beyond worth for he was selfish but he always learnt from it.
