@youronlinebrother.au: 🤔 “Why don’t Aboriginal people just make better choices?” Answered. Make sure you share this on your stories. I'm sure people have NEVER thought of things this way. It’s weird how white people judge aboriginal people for things white people do.

Brother, choices are extremely hard when the odds are stacked against you. When they purposely place you in public housing with no plan of action, usually placed in your own community (easier to label the lot as bad), living off bear minimum govt. support, potentially battling person addictions (that aren’t addressed), and that moneys meant to cloth you, feed you, house you + more.. and conveniently there’s multiple bottlo’s open til late in the same street, but there’s no local grocer open past 7/8pm. How do they expect anyone to prosper (indigenous or not) without a short / long term plan to get you either employment/apprenticeship/studying so you’re self sufficient and kept busy. Driving up self morale and lifting everyone’s spirits in the community.

I see poor choices being made by people of every race, all across Australia and throughout the world. Yet for some reason, when an Aboriginal person makes a poor choice, people are quick to make it about their race rather than the individual circumstances that led them there. So many people also have very little understanding of Aboriginal history, intergenerational trauma, disadvantage, and how those things can affect people differently. Sometimes it really does come down to a lack of education and understanding. Thank you for taking the time to break this down in such a simple, relatable way for the people who clearly need to hear it. 👏🏽

people basically don't have equity too the same resources sone people get to start 200 meters ahead and some have to start on the start line, that makes sense

Believing you have a choice or at least some autonomy over the decisions you make can be empowering- not saying it isn’t harder for some.
