@amandalynndaly: Tongue and lip tie consult and (likely) release tomorrow! My thought process as a lactation counselor, SLP, and infant feeding therapist. Hope this helps another mama out there facing this same choice / struggles 🩷
I had a tongue-tie that I myself had released at age 17 because of problems I was having. The doctor who did it was surprised it hadn’t torn on its own because of how forward it was. And yes, it is painful and I thought my tongue was going to fall out of my mouth for the first few days but the initial pain disappeared quite quickly. It was only partially released and now over 50 years later I’m having problems again and may have to have another release.

My babies also had serious ties that we had released. Prepping for baby #3 and knowing our genetics we’ll probably have to do it again, but I really don’t want to go through everything that comes with a release 😅

My 5 week old just had her tongue and lip ties released 2 days ago. I have noticed some improvement with her latch but is there anything else I can be doing to help her improve even more? She still does have some clicking off and on.
