New tsukemen spot from Japan! 🍜👀 San Mateo is the go-to spot for Japanese food, specifically ramen and tsukemen (dipping ramen) for me. Taishoken used to be the only tsukemen in San Mateo, so I’m glad we have another place to add more variety! Both are from Japan too! Both are the perfect texture, but I really love the flavor of Taishoken’s buckwheat noodles. You can also get your noodles here hot or cold, but I opted for cold so the noodles stay firm and chewy. They’re more likely to become mushy if you get it hot. However, I love the flavor of the spicy miso broth here more than the broth of Taishoken’s tsukemen. Wish I could combine the two 🤣 Anywho, San Mateo is seriously underrated. Still need to show you guys my all-time fav ramen shop, I didn’t forget haha sorry for the delay! Got the spicy miso tuskemen special because I wanted to try their charcoal grilled pork belly and marinated egg too! Loved the smokiness of the meat!! 🔥 The dipping broth is more of a thin chili oil type of consistency which I think made it easier for the noodles to absorb all that flavor 😮‍💨 Note that the sizes on the bottom refer to portion size not noodle thickness LOL but hey that’s a good deal! Had enough for lunch the next day haha. If you love spicy miso like me, you’re going to love this broth. Can’t wait to come back and try their other stuff too :) . . . #bayareafoodies #bayareafood #bayareablogger #sanmateo #sanmateoeats #sanmateofood #japanesefood #sfbayarea #bayareafoodblogger #bayareablogger #tsukemen #ramenshop #ramen
