@asiaone: The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) supports the development of capabilities to make an assessment on the deployment of nuclear energy, according to Singapore's Ministry of Trade and Industry. #sgnews #Singapore #China #NuclearEnergy 📸: Ministry of Trade and Industry
China has Thorium reactor technology which they perfected. Small and uses way less water. Very suitable for Singapore.

I am okay with nuclear as long as the reactor is at LW or TSL’s GRC.

Why China? India would share our nuclear knowledge with Singapore too.

This could be a game-changing development for Singapore if clean nuclear energy is ever to become a realistic option here. China is rapidly advancing thorium reactor technology, which is not only safer but could also be much more compact—potentially making it ideal for land-scarce Singapore.👍👍👍

China has over 30 NPPs in operations under CGNPC alone! it was technology transfer from France. Not to mention another nuclear power SOE. They have the experience and also technology but the key question here is uranium fuel. It is going to be costly if technology is going to be from USA or Europe ! Then our electricity bills going up again and again. The most SG will deploy is Small Modular Nuclear Reactor.....about 1/10 of a full size nuclear power plant (NPP).

The writing was already written on the wall when IAEA came to visit Singapore. Hints were drops by medias intermittently. Announcement of developments of western island is also another marker. China was chosen due to it capability to make a modular reactor and suitable for small land area. Unlike others, Rusia or Japan, which required huge land mass for the infrastructure and other requirements. The choice was more to pragmatic reason other than political. 🙏

Once the nuclear energy facility is built in Singapore, the drinking water in Singapore will be continuous and the electricity in Singapore will be cleaner. Perhaps Singapore needs to build a few more waste-to-energy plants.
