August was a month of both challenges and growth here at Empowered Child Ministries. Support was very low last month, which affected many of our plans and activities but still, with the little we received, we made the most of it.. God bless to each who shared a penny The kids battled fevers, colds, malaria and stomach aches; Garvin even fell from his bed and got hurt. In late July we faced a challenge of letting go of two caretakers due mistreatment of the children and in August, we replaced welcomed 2 new caretakers Miria and Beatrice plus a cook, Prossy, to love on our children daily. Physiotherapy continued for our 4 CP kids at home and 5 in the community (Dr. Flavia & Sylvester), and Teacher Sarah kept special-needs lessons going even with limited space and equipments. Worship on Sundays and Wednesday nights kept our childrens faith bright. At home, household improvements, we bought saucepans, a stirring stick and lid, a center weighing scale, welded broken bunk-bed pipes, added a plate rack, set up a dedicated laundry area, and opened another kitchen window for ventilation. We began the process of getting our own electricity (no more unsafe neighbor power) Our dance kids got new African outfits and shoes. School term 2 ended -49 report cards for our children and holiday lessons started on Aug 25 to prep for term 3. We couldn’t afford birthdays this month. We also welcomed two new monthly donors—Ricardo ($31.4) and Eva-Maria ($21.1) giving though paypal recurring donations For our our full August report (with financial overview + funding needs) is now up on our website.
