Yep, it reminds me of Martin Scorsese‘s commentary on how Hollywood push on superhero movies where it’s catered to a bunch of people specifically “nerds” who don’t care about the artistry of filmmaking, but just the character/IP behind it

Kinda in a weird area right now, because partly due to Japan stigma around mental illness and other social issues like gay marriage, I think they try to make content to appeal to western audiences or inspired by western culture/sensibilities, but ultimately backfires because of the audience that type of content attracts (Gachiakuta mangaka being bullied off the internet is the most recent example)
