영국 기네스북에 등재된 대구 근교 세계 최대 동굴 법당 대구 중심에서 차로 1시간 30분이면 만나볼 수 있는 이곳은 세계 최대 규모의 동굴 법당으로, 영국 기네스북에도 등재된 경남 의령의 사찰입니다. 거대한 기암절벽이 사찰을 병풍처럼 두르고 있어 웅장하고 신비롭습니다. 또, 절벽 위에서 폭포도 쏟아져 내리는데, 스케일이 정말 압도적이더라고요. 거대한 동굴 안에 법당이 조성된 배경도 흥미롭습니다. 창건 이래 여러 차례 화재로 전각이 소실되자, 산의 강한 기운을 다스리기 위해 동굴을 파서 대불사를 시작한 것이 지금의 모습이 되었습니다. 현재 455㎡ 규모의 대웅전과 297㎡ 규모의 무량수전이 동굴 내부에 자리하고 있으며, 사찰 오른쪽 산길을 조금만 더 올라가면 연못 위의 작은 암자 서담암도 만나볼 수 있습니다.
