Stealth RAW is ABSOLUTELY BUSTED, and ive yet to see it run as it’s written. Especially with the skulker feat, which is basically the poor man’s permanent invisibility. When you take the hide action, you roll stealth. As long as creatures cannot directly see you, and their passive perception is not greater than your stealth roll, you are now Hidden to them. This means advantage on all your attacks against them, and disadvantage on their attacks against you. When you attack a creature, hit or miss, you reveal your *location* at the time of the attack. The wording is important here - you do not break stealth when you attack a creature. They simply learn where that attack came from. They can then make an attack (at disadvantage) at that position. If you moved, they do not learn this, and will auto-miss if they attack where you *were*. In order to spot you they either need to put you in a situation where they automatically see you (eg bright light), or take the Search action. ACTION. Unless they have an ability that says otherwise (i think theres a humanoid statblock that can do it as a bonus action?), it uses up their WHOLE action, just to let them make a perception check. If they succeed, then you are no longer hidden from them. Them specifically. Them pointing you out to their allies may (DM’s discretion) give advantage on their perception checks to see you, but it does bot automatically break your hiding for anyone else. And because they used their action? Guess what a rogue can do as a bonus action next turn before the enemy gets a turn to attack. This means basically permanent advantage on attacks and disadvantage on attacks made to hit you. That is disadvantage if they’re aiming in the right spot, which they likely arent unless you have to stay still. Skulker makes this even more OP, as it lets you hide if even lightly obscured. That means you can hide in the dark even if they have darkvision, and are stood RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU. It means you can basically vanish like a horror movie villain in *light fog*. Walk right up to someone, stab them in their stomach, and then walk away, and all they’ll know is that you were right in front of them.
