This is my exact situation. The person she was for the first 15 years was vastly different than the last 3. She left, but I can’t stop picturing every part of my life with her in it. Even when I’m not thinking about her, my brain just fills her into the open spaces. I try to ignore those thoughts but they are way too often for me to just close out the possibilities for the future.
