I don’t understand how people can’t realise how expendable they are, I’m a manager myself and I can be replaced just as easily as one of the people I have to manage. Why do any extra work that isn’t explicitly in your role description. I don’t understand the people that genuinely think this way, I’ve seen people that have been loyal to the company I work at for 10+ years and still be ignored and laid off

I took on the entirety of someone's role when they quit. I didn't mind as it would've helped my personal growth, but 1.5 years later, management started to question my 'optics' at company events, followed by questioning my role in the company. Just because my work wasn't flashy sales or public engagement (medical writing). Hard work never pays off, unless it's for personal benefit
