@parisintherayn: While Kampar is best known for its tin mining history, its old bus terminal survives as a striking monument to post-independence modern architecture in Malaysia 🚌🚏 Opened in 1957 and heavily used by the Hup Soon Omnibus company and it used to be the busiest hub in town. The building features a beautifully unique shape that I believe belongs to the Tropical Modernist style—a design movement that emerged across Asia and some part Africa after WW2 to reflect an anti-colonial spirit. The layout spans two floors which the ground level featured a passenger waiting room alongside two platforms for arriving and departing buses, while the upstairs balcony served as office space for the staff. Records show the terminal finally shut down in 2018 when operations moved to a newer facility. There is some unverified talk about the local government reviving it as a tourism center, but as of right now, the station sits completely abandoned.
