@jmpd55: 18 AUGUST 2026 TRAFFIC ADVISORY: DISRUPTIONS EXPECTED FOR SPRINGBOKS vs THE ALL BLACKS AT 10bet ELLIS PARK STADIUM The Johannesburg Metropolitan Police Department (JMPD) wishes to inform the public of significant traffic disruptions expected around the 10bet Ellis Park Stadium on Saturday, 22 August 2026, due to the rugby match between the Springboks and New Zealand. To ensure the safety and security of all attendees and to facilitate the smooth flow of traffic, the JMPD will deploy a substantial number of officers to the New Doornfontein area from 06:00 to 23:00 on match day. Additionally, Outsurance/Traffic Free Flow personnel will be deployed to assist with traffic control at critical intersections leading to the stadium. Road Closures and Traffic Management: Several roads in the vicinity of the stadium will be affected from 22:00 on Friday, 21 August 2026, until 22:00 on Saturday, 22 August 2026. The M1 and M2 highways can be used as alternatives. Transportation and Parking: To alleviate traffic congestion and enhance the overall match-day experience, the JMPD strongly encourages all spectators to utilise the various alternative transportation options available instead of their private vehicles. Limited parking will be available at the stadium, and we anticipate heavy traffic, making alternative options the most convenient and efficient way to get to and from the match. Alternative Transportation Options: * Park-and-Ride Bus Service: A dedicated Park-and-Ride system will be in operation, providing a hassle-free way to reach the stadium. The bus service will operate from 13:00 to 15:00 from the following locations: * Clearwater Mall * Cresta Shopping Centre * Montecasino * Melrose Arch * Mall of Africa * Centurion Mall * Menlyn Park * Greenstone Shopping Centre * East Rand Mall * The Glen Shopping Centre * Gold Reef City * Sandton City * The Grove Mall The final return bus will depart from the stadium no later than 20:00. * Taxi Shuttle Services: Spectators can also use taxi shuttle services from designated parking areas at Eastgate Mall and St John's College in Houghton Estate. * Gautrain and PRASA Train Services: * Gautrain will transport spectators from several stations to Park Station, where PRASA services will be available to take them from Park Station to Ellis Park Train Station. * E-hailing Services: Designated drop-off and pick-up zones will be in effect for e-hailing users at Umjantshi House on Wolmarans Street, Braamfontein, to ensure a smooth flow of traffic The JMPD appeals to all road users to cooperate with traffic authorities, adhere to traffic regulations, and exercise patience during this period.
