No there is not a better time in Australia to buy your first home. It’s gone. To be honest the best time was in the 2000s. That’s when it was the best time. By example I bought my first home in the late 80s under the labour party interest rates for 16% the average three bedroom home was around 116,000. That’s what I paid. I sold that house two years later. Could not afford it as labour put us in a recession and we had wage loss. Could not afford to pay for that Home any more than in the early 2000s. I had another opportunity paid 300,000 for the average Home which I bought a four bedroom house on a 6% interest I found that $300,000 Home a lot easier to pay off than the hundred and $16,000 home under 16% interest. The $300,000 Home was at 6% interest and five years in the interest rate dropped down to 3.8%. My partner and I paid off at Home within 18 years and now we said mortgage free.

I saved and bought a house when I turned 40. Both me and my wife both have degrees and make good money. I managed to buy a house in Brisbane for $1m (land then build) now its worth $3m. No way I could afford to buy my house today with a combined $270k income!!
